How this unbalance was created we do not know only that the world that the humans knew has been breached and a new world where all the fantastic creatures are actually alive and willing to move through worlds. Or so it went like this The wall that separates this world from ours is high and invisible only a few have braved to enter as you can travel through places.You can play any setting and character you want there are no limits to the world of snow.
